Microstrip patch antennas are very popular nowadays because they offer attractive performance and are portable. Microstrip antenna with different shapes has been designed. However, the triangular shape has not been well researched. Hence, in this paper, a line fed Triangular Microstrip Patch Antenna (TMPA) for Bluetooth Application at 2.45GHz was investigated using CST microwave studio. Two different substrates were considered for which after optimization, Duriod 6010 gave the smallest effective length compared to Rogers RT, but had the least directivity of 4.47dBi, gain of 3.52dB, VSWR of 1.02 and bandwidth of 33MHz. Whereas, Rogers RT gave the best directivity of 6.29dBi, gain of 5.55dB, VSWR of 1.08 and bandwidth of 42MHz. Nevertheless, the advantages offered by Rogers are at the expense of enlarged patch length. Similarly, the proposed antenna resonated at 2.45GHz with sufficient bandwidth compared to the conventional patch antennas. This makes it suitable for use in S band (2400-2485MHz) for Bluetooth application.
